Smarter Energy. Faster Repairs. Axalta Launches Next-Generation FCLE Technology

Axalta Coating Systems has announced the launch of its next-generation Fast Cure Low Energy (FCLE) surfacer technology across Australia and New Zealand, with availability from 15th April 2026. Building on the global success of its patented FCLE platform, the latest evolution delivers even greater productivity, durability and efficiency for modern bodyshops.

Designed to support high-throughput repair environments, the new surfacer technology combines sanding and non-sanding (wet-on-wet) applications into a single product. This eliminates the need for multiple surfacers, helping bodyshops reduce stockholding, simplify ordering and streamline application processes – all while maintaining exceptional finish quality.

Speed and efficiency remain at the core of FCLE technology. With low-bake and air-dry capability, the system enables faster drying times while reducing reliance on energy-intensive spray booth cycles. Globally, FCLE technology has demonstrated the potential to reduce gas consumption by up to 50% and electricity usage by up to 48%, supporting both cost savings and sustainability goals.

Jim Iliopoulos, Product & Technical Manager at Axalta ANZ, says the latest generation represents a significant step forward for the industry: “We are excited that our Fast Cure Low Energy repair system is now even better. Already recognised as a fast and productive coating solution, it now offers increased durability while continuing to support sustainability and meeting OEM specifications -  opening new opportunities for forward-thinking bodyshops,” he said. “This next generation launch was designed for demanding and productivity-focused bodyshops who are looking for the ultimate in efficiency and throughput. Without question, this is the smarter system for smarter energy savings.”

The FCLE system is delivered across Axalta’s three premium refinish brands – Cromax Ultra Performance Energy System, Spies Hecker Speed-TEC product family and Standox Xtreme System – ensuring bodyshops can access the technology through their preferred brand.

The next-generation FCLE surfacer technology is available now through Axalta’s distribution network, with additional clearcoat technology scheduled for release across Australia and New Zealand later in 2026.
